ladybird fever

This practical on wood-decorating using napkins gives us a chance to explore our creativity and skills. I realise that when sewing is not exactly your forte, this kind of lessons will be much more fun and leaves us with more room to showcase our other talents - such as painting and decorating. With some guidance, and a lot of patience from pain-stakingly cutting the small bits, we managed to get our act together and come up with many different designs from the material given. I think secondary school students will be thrilled to do this project!

the final countdown...

We came to the last episode of the microteaching battle with relief as everyone was glad that it ended on a good note - we baked a cake in addition to the 3 recipes delivered by the last group. I have learnt various cooking skills and techniques from our peers throughout the journey - not to mention the wonderful recipes that I never thought were so simple yet delicious - so.. thank you to all for the efforts shown during the microteaching.. =)

fun & entertaining!

I love this tv programme from Playhouse Disney! It's called "Tasty Time with ZeFronk", a cartoon cooking programme featuring a dog named ZeFronk and his cat neighbour, Dom and a little bird called Sue who helps him in his daily cooking activities. They teach simple recipes suitable for little kids aged 3 years and up, such as chicken salad and tuna sandwich.

Click here to watch ZeFronk's videos

It's a really cute cartoon, with catchy music, funny French accent and Dom's little antics.. It's educational too, as children learn new terms such as stirring, baking, mixing and introduce new foods to them such as kebabs, tacos, etc.. My son loves this programme.. he runs to the tv each time it comes on, and now my son can make sandwiches, crack eggs, and make pancakes =) Catch it on SCV Channel 311.. =)

let the stress begin...

In today's microteaching, it was our turn to cook.

The topic was on seafood. Besides learning how to clean and cook fish, prawns and crabs, I also learnt the importance of handling seafood - which involves the preparation to ensure freshness and its safety aspects.

woven bag.. woven!

When we were shown the final woven bag that we would be doing during the first few lessons back then, i was somewhat thinking that it was going to be easy. oklah..not much sewing what, i thought. Then when we started getting on it.. i thought, oklah..so much cutting to do ah..?? aiyoh... so leceh must be so precise some more..but ok lah still better than a lot a lot of sewing.. Then comes the ironing part..aiyoh..tired man iron and iron still never stick ah..what kind of interfacing is this man..aiyah dont complain so much lah..still better than sewing.. Then comes the weaving part.. wah piang..so difficult to weave..must pull here pull there, lift here lift there then up down in out....

Somehow this woven bag assignment has made me appreciate woven baskets and bags more than ever.
And i like the final outcome of my bag very much. =)
